5 Things to Know Neighborhood Leadership Alliance Going Inactive
1. The Bend City Council has announced that their advisory body, the Neighborhood Leadership
Alliance, will be going inactive at the end of June 2023.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Council held a work session on community engagement around
he 2023-25 Council Goals. Part of this session included how to utilize existing advisory bodies to help accomplish this work. Part of this session included how to utilize existing advisory boards, committees and commissions to help accomplish the work set out in these goals.
During the discussion, Council gave unanimous direction to pause the Neighborhood Leadership Alliance (NLA) indefinitely to support and focus on more direct engagement opportunities between Council, the Neighborhood Associations – now being referred to as Neighborhood Districts – and the broader community.
2. The last meeting of the Neighborhood Leadership Alliance will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers and online using Zoom. This meeting will be an opportunity for the committee to celebrate accomplishments, discuss the decision of the committee going inactive with Mayor Melanie Kebler and Community Relations Manager Makayla Oliver and learn about the new opportunities for engagement that will be launched in place of the Neighborhood Leadership Alliance.
