At its May 2 meeting the Bend City council unanimously approved a new ordinance creating a Neighborhood Leadership Alliance as a formal city committee. The Alliance will be a means of communication between the Council and city government and the 13 Neighborhood Associations recognized by the city.
Neighborhood leaders have worked for months on the language of the charter and how it defines the role of the new committee.
According to City procedures the ordinance will be read again at the May 16 council meeting and public comment taken.
Neighborhood Association officers are excited about the opportunity to be part of decision making by providing the opinions and needs of their constituents to the council.
