The County Sheriff's Office proposes to form a Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD) corps to improve response and recovery in times of disasters. The collective of volunteer organizations, faith-based communities, non governmental, fraternal and government organizations would communicate, collaborate and coordinate in times of fires, earthquakes, floods or snow events.
Ashley Volz of the Emergency Management staff says the goal is to be an "all-inclusive recovery organization focusing on the unmet needs of individuals and families impacted by disasters." BANA was invited to participate and perhaps be a source of information for our members. The Board will discuss how BANA might help and what service we could provide to help ourselves in times of need.
In the past BANA members have coordinated snow shoveling for elderly and disabled persons.
