In our neighboring area to the south, Orchard District, the residents have a Good Samaritan program that helps elderly and home bound residents during winter months. Residents adopt a neighbor and assist them clearing a driveway or sidewalk and checking on the person periodically.
Cheryl Howard, Orchard District chair, says the program is immensely popular and has been spreading throughout the city. The BANA Board will discuss at a future meeting. Tell us what you think about the idea and if you are willing to volunteer.
