Among the 44 projects to be funded by the upcoming bond issue are several located in the Boyd Acres area. These include: UAS20 southbound roadway widening between Cooley and Empire; Funding for capital projects that enhance access to transit; Empire Avenue widening to five lanes near US97 interchange and install traffic signal at southbound ramp.
A number of roundabouts or signals are proposed for five key intersections - Revere Ave and 4th St.; Olney Avenue and 4th St.; Ferguson Road and 15th ST.; Wilson Ave. and 15th St. and O.B.Riley Road and Empire Ave.
The full list of proposed projects and the estimated costs are listed on the City of Bend website under the Transportation Advisory Committee. The 21 member citizens group has been working on the package for two years making recommendations to the City Council on projects that will relieve traffic congestion and make travel safer.
Some critics, including the Old Farm Neighborhood Association board have faulted the list for not emphasizing pedestrian safety enough.
