What should the City focus on in the coming two years?  This important question will be answered in part by what you and our neighbors tell the City Council.  Let’s help formulate the goals by sharing our thoughts.
The City recently concluded a phone survey asking participants to answer general questions about the City and City services.

For those who didn’t get randomly chosen for a phone call, the City has launched a similar online Community Survey so everyone can have an opportunity to provide input. The online survey is available in both English and Spanish. Online survey results will complement the representative phone survey and will also be shared with the Council.

Go to the City’s webpage at www.bendoregon.gov to find the survey, or go directly to: the survey here
https://opinion-insight.com/index.php/113565?newtest=Y&lang=en).

The current goals will be updated in June when the City Council approves new goals for the 2023-25 budget cycles.

These are the broad areas of interest:

Accessible and Effective City Government                             Environment and Climate

Safety, Health, Accountability ad Justice                                Shared Prosperity

Transportation and Infrastructure                                            Housing

How Are the Neighborhood Associations Performing?

The City’s Community Relations staff conducted a performance assessment of the 13 Neighborhood Associations (NA).  Makayla Oliver, Community Relations Manager, recently shared the results with the Neighborhood Leadership Alliance (NLA).

Among the issues identified:  Member recruitment and retention; Board operations; City and Council Support.

Oliver told the group there remains confusion among the general public about the Neighborhood Associations and Homeowners Associations (HOAs) despite continued efforts to educate residents.  One suggestion is to consider renaming the NAs.

Oliver asks the question, does the City expect too much of the NAs?  She presented a long list of recommendations as to how the City may support the NAs by improving reimbursement procedures, providing one insurance policy for use of Bend Parks and Recreation facilities and sharing survey tools.

An exciting development is the purchase of a mobile event trailer for NAs to share and use for annual meetings and other events.  It will be stocked with supplies and equipment.  Oliver and Xavi Borja will provide training for NA boards.

You may watch a recording of the NLA meeting on the City of Bend website.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw1RjWADIZQ
